David Bemporad serves as a Transportation Planner at RS&H. His work specializes in Bike and Pedestrian design, GIS analysis, and policy-writing. As a part of the City of San Antonio Bike Network Plan, David has designed a yearslong public engagement campaign to bring in meaningful public feedback, designing engagement materials, interactive mapping portals, and surveys to support the plan. In the City of New Braunfels Street Safety Action Plan, David built new analysis methods to control for errors in Texas crash data, cleaning errant fields and revalidating roadway scores with local reporting – creating a safety analysis that both prioritizes roadways and prescribed solutions. In both projects, David worked closely with several federal grant opportunities – but none more so than Safe Streets and Roads For All grants (SS4A) and their evolving requirements. Prior to RS&H, David gained experience designing active transportation facilities, leading community engagement events and charettes, and securing federal and state grant funding in Texas. While working at the Great Springs Project as a Trails and Transportation Planner, he designed active transportation facilities both along roadways and in park space in the Central Texas Region. In this role, David organized and hosted meetings of city staff from various regional municipalities, balancing regional needs for shared infrastructure with local maintenance obligations, design standards, and policy initiatives and stewarding proscribed projects to receive grant funding from Texas Parks and Wildlife, Texas Department of Transportation, and the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization.
