Scott's extensive career in public safety began in 1990 with the California Highway Patrol where he worked patrol and investigative assignments, developed crisis response plans, and coordinated the statewide vehicle theft program. He then spent 20 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), where he held various investigative and leadership roles, including Supervisory Special Agent in the Sacramento Field Office and FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC. In these roles, Scott led national and international organized crime and major theft investigations, coordinated intelligence and investigative activities and conducted sensitive internal, criminal, and national security investigations in the US and overseas. Upon retirement in 2018, Scott returned to California and served as a Bureau Chief with the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). At POST, Scott managed numerous programs within the Administrative Services Bureau and the Peace Officer Standards Accountability Division. Beginning in early 2023, Scott has served as a First Responder Ambassador with the Waymo Autonomous Vehicle Company. At Waymo, Scott is responsible for outreach, liaison and safety-related training for the first responder community, integrating autonomous vehicle technology into public safety frameworks
